Who We Are

Big Bend Community Action fights poverty, empowering the disadvantaged, promotes self-sufficiency and overcomes barriers.

Why Big Bend Community Action Agency is Unique:  Most poverty-related organizations focus on a specific area of need, such as job training, health care, housing, or economic development.  BBCAC reaches out to low-income people in our community, address their multiple needs through a comprehensive approach, develop partnerships with other community organizations, involve low-income clients in the agency’s operations, and administer a full range of coordinated programs designed to have a measurable impact on poverty.

The organization has centers located in Marfa, Alpine, Presidio and Van Horn.  Center Directors from Marfa provide outreach services to Jeff Davis County, (Ft. Davis and Valentine) the Alpine Center Director provides outreach services to Alpine, Terlingua, Lajitas and Marathon, the Van Horn Center Director covers Hudspeth County (Sierra Blanca, Dell City, Ft. Hancock) with outreach services and the Presidio Center Director provides outreach services to Redford, Candelaria and Shafter.
